Arsenal's identity ?

They no longer have one. The most famous and biggest club in London have become stale.

Their identity was attractive football under Wenger, nurturing young players and professional performances. That big canon on the badge doesn't frighten anyone now. As much as I respect what he's done for Arsenal and the Prem in general it's time for him to do the right thing and leave. Last season was a failure, a trophy and record to boot serving only to gloss over the cracks. Qualifying for the CL is everything and I reckon Wenger felt it hard. He probably stayed to put it right (Arsenal are always in the CL ffs), but I think he should hand over to a younger manager - I'm sure Pochettino would relish the chance to manage such a big club.

Arsenal's identity is attractive football, they were a highly competitive team in the early 2000s with world class players in most positions. In 04 they immortalized themselves with an unbeaten season the 'invincibles'. Winning the league for the 13th time behind Manchester United and Liverpool, they peaked in 06 but lost to Barcelona in the champions league final. The club has stagnated ever since, the club became about funds now. Arsenal represent consistency, they made top 4 for about 20 years and recorded high points tally through this in the Premier league era.

BQ:

Arsenal's identity: Victoria Concordia Crescit, Victory through Harmony.

And they've lived up to that well, up until the sale of Cesc Fabregas, the club is now a shadow of its former self.

It has quickly become nothing more than a profit machine for Kroenke and a mate to keep Wenger from suffering from solitude.

Arsenal have lost their original identity, that of the invincible team that won by any means necessary and did it playing beautiful.

The club has been sabotaged, they lose their best players, and although they gain good players like Lacazette it would simply be a new generation of footballers using Arsenal as a stepping stone, we don't compete so why should good players stay?

How to get back to league winning glory?

The answer is very simple, so simple in fact that everyone but Wenger himself knows or is willing to admit.

Arsene Wenger must be let go of the football club, it is painfully obvious that the team is staganant, in fact regressing the longer he continues in charge.

Of course that's not the only thing that will fix the mess that is Arsenal, but it is the only logical first step.

Appointing a top manager such as Simeone, Ancelotti or Allegri early enough with top talent at their disposal could make us challengers immediately.

The board would also need shaking up or compliance with the new manager, Stan Kroenke isn't as big a problem as people make him out to be, as long as the owner leaves football people in charge we should be fine.. his LA Rams are a good example of a team competing for a title (they are currently 7-2) with winning people in charge, Kroenke's only sin is that he simply doesn't care about competing as long as the money is good, we need people that can compete and thus would also produce the money.

Of course a better scenario would be if Alisher Usmanov bought the team, that would mean that rather than depending on the board and manager to produce results, we'd have an ambitious owner running the operation.

With Usmanov Arsenal should win league titles, but they can also hit lows that haven't been seen before due to over management... Chelsea with Abramovich is a good example of a team that will inconsitently win titles and yet finish well outside the top 4 due to over management.

But at the end of the day the best thing Arsenal FC can do to return to former glories is to let go of Arsene Wenger and replace him asap, spend enough money on top quality players and keep them, also have the board/ownership take charge of the football club and direct it with a winning mentality.

Arsenal FC will always be a big club, the money and stadium are there, it is a club that is being held back from its true potential by stupid decisions that stem from Arsene Wenger alone.

What is the identity of Arsenal FC? What needs to be done to get back to league-winning glory?

LOL, I really think this question was aimed at me but here i Go.

What's the identity of Arsenal FC? Arsenal FC is a club that I have loved since i was aged 6. As far back as my consciousness goes back to I remember everyday always going to the Arsenal website on my dial up connected internet there as soon as I got back from school to read more and more about our previous legends, e.g David seaman, Pat rice, George graham, lee dixon, Cliff bastin, whilst watching our current legends rip both English football and European football a whole new one, minutes away from where I live. Our history is well known to the world, we are the the most successful club from London, the 3rd most successful club in England, and according to the IFFHS the 8th most successful club in Europe from the big 5 leagues. Arsenal is also one of the only 3 clubs to win the league three times in a row and the most successful club in the oldest competition in the world, the FA Cup.

What needs to be done to get back to league-winning glory? As I have so perspicuously pointed out above, Arsenal is a club that has always been historically successful, even when we had our long spell without the league title like in the 60's we always were competing, Highbury was always a fortress, Always. This was made evident in 2 seasons, the 2001-2002 season where we scored atleast a goal in every single game we played in the league (record) and then the legendary, iconic 2003-2004 season where we went a whole league campaign unbeaten. Came 2006, and the plans for Arsenal moving into a new 60,000 seating stadium were completed, leaving Arsenal with a debt in the Billions, which was gradually reducing every year as Arsene wenger a man who usually did great business in the market was reduced to always selling his best and most expensive players to pay off the debt, the tickets also increased to being the most expensive in Europe but the results didn't follow, increasing the pressure on Arsene wenger, all our revenue did not go into facilitating our academy or buying the best players we could buy, it went straight to our power and money hungry selfish owners, this still happened until 2014, where our debt was ultimately paid off and we could actually try and compete with the best in Europe as we were promised, the following season saw our best chance since the 2007-208 season to win the league (which we should've but Eduardo's injury proved fatal) but Leicester city had a fairy tale season which we couldn't cope with despite doing our bit by beating them home and away. If Arsenal want to get back to the top they need to do 3 things.

1. Fire the nepotic executives at our club and give more control to Usmanov a guy who actually wants arsenal to play well and make money, whereas the Kronke's and the Keswicks just want us to turnover.

2. Fire Arsene wenger and bring in a more modern tactically proven manager, this one hurts me because i Have a ton of respect for wenger because say what you will about him, I do accept that he's had his moments where he should've just left and some of his tactics against big teams are horrendous, but he's still the most successful manager in our history and made Arsenal stable throughout this cloud, but he has done what he can do, he will not win the league during his extension and him going and being replaced by a good tactician, backed by the executives will see us reclaim our throne as the pride of London.

3. When said new manager comes in he needs to do a complete rinsing of the trash bums in our team. We need to replace Petr cech, a guy who i think is the greatest keeper in the premier league era but has past his expiry date with the AC or Inter milan goal keeper.

Sell half of our midfielders and sign a Patrick Vieira type midfielder, a PROPER midfielder, one we've lacked since Fabregas left in 2011, a midfielder who attacks well and defends well, Granit Xhaka could've been this but his ill discipline and bluntly lack of talent doesn't fit the bill, I would've gone for Arturo vidal or even Nzonzi as the best options, then sign a player who stays back and collects all the balls from midfield, Kante should've been an Arsenal player, but since he's gone we should really try and sign Medel, he's also very good. Or even Saul from Atletico wo can do this job and even go forward and attack, or Inler. Then we need two world class wingers. One to replace Sanchez and one to displace theo walcott. Thomas Lemar and Julian Brandt will be perfect, or even Lorenzo insigne.

Then as talented as Mesut Ozil is , his laziness will never work out in the EPL, we need an attacking midfielder like or just a great forward, someone i would absolutely love to have in my team is Paulo Dybala, he would just be absolutely perfect to play behind or with Lacazette a clinical finisher. Oh and we need another central midfielder to replace santi cazorla, since Isco is out of the question Leon Goretzka woud fit in perfectly.
I don't believe it!

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England, they have a huge fan base as well. Historically Arsenal achieved footballing success throughout the existence of the Football League First Division(and the Premier League). They have amassed a total of 13 league titles throughout the years and plenty of FA Cup titles as well. After a dip in form and performances in the early 80's, George Graham came in and formed one of the best defences ever at Arsenal. His defensive system reaped results and success followed. Arsenal's football under Graham wasn't pretty, but it was very effective and they won the 1989 and the 1991 league titles under Graham. Graham was sacked in early 1995 due to corruption charges, but in 1996 Wenger was hired at Arsenal manager. Wenger totally changed Arsenal's style of football, he bought in household names, players such as Bergkamp, Overmars, Henry, Pires, Viera and many others that lead to huge success for Arsenal on the football field. Arsenal were not only winning titles, but they were winning them in style, playing attractive football. Their most successful season came in the 2003-04 season in which Arsenal won the Premier League title, they were semi finalists in the FA Cup and the League Cup and they reached the quarter finals of the Champions League. This success earned them the nickname of 'The Invincibles', relative success followed for the next couple of years. This success has helped Arsenal to seal their status and their identity as one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in England. But over the past 10 years, Arsenal have not lived up to expectations and success on the football field has been scarce.

The problem that Arsenal and Wenger have had over the past 10 years is that Wenger has not had the world class players and the characters that he once had at Arsenal. Players like Viera, Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Ljungberg, Tony Adams, Campbell, Keown, Seaman, Overmars etc were vital in bringing success to Arsenal. Most of the players that Wenger has bought in the last 10 years have not been of the expected footballing standard. As a business model, Wenger has done a superb job at Arsenal. He has always bought young prospects on the cheap and then sold many on for a huge profit once they developed into great footballers. Even over the last 10 years, Wenger has still sold players on for a big profit, even though these players are not of the same calibre as the players he once had in the late 90's and the early 2000's. I think it is mainly for this reason, why the Arsenal board have stuck with him for so long, he runs a profitable business for Arsenal with his player dealings, plus up until last season, they always made the top 4 in the league, which ensured lucrative Champions League football. But Arsenal are not setting the high standards on the football field that they once were.

This needs to change soon, because I believe that most Arsenal fans are fed up and they are extremely thirsty for success once again. They want to see Arsenal winning the league again. In order for this wish to be realised, Arsenal need to follow suit of the other big clubs around the world. Unfortunately it boils down to spending a huge amount of money to buy the best players. I strongly believe that in today's day and age, money does buy success. Manchester City are living proof of this, they have spent millions on players and they now have a quality team with star names and even their bench looks extremely strong. Arsenal need to follow suit, or at least attempt to spend big and buy the best players. Buying prospects these days, is rarely ever going to equate to immediate success. Clubs need to buy players who are the complete article, players who are at their peak performance wise. As suggested by several people already on here, it is in midfield where Arsenal should start. They should buy a household name midfielder and spend a huge amount to bring in such a player if need be. In midfield, Arsenal should be looking at a player like Thomas Lemar, or even better Verratti for their centre midfield positions. They should also sell Ozil and replace him with the younger and even better Draxler. In attack, Lacazette is one of the best finishers in football and Sanchez has proven his prowess as a world class forward. Giroud offers a different option in attack, where his aerial prowess is second to none, so if Arsenal want to switch the play up, Giroud could be a great asset to still have. I see no serious improvements in attack needed with those 3 still at the club. Arsenal have some good defenders, but there would be no harm in bringing in a few more quality defenders in just to ensure a wee bit more depth in that department. In goal, Pere Cech is solid, but he is not as good as he used to be and he is not getting any younger. So I would look to buy a younger goalkeeper who is of proven quality, someone like Jan Oblak would be ideal or even someone like Kasper Schmeichel. However, Arsenal's priority area which needs improving is their midfield. If they significantly strengthen their midfield by buying a couple of world class midfielders, then success will no doubt follow on the field and the glory days could well return for Arsenal.

Arsenal was originally formed in 1886 by a group of workers at the Woolwich armaments factory in south London, and the club was first known as Dial Square. The name was soon changed to Royal Arsenal, though when the club turned professional in 1891 the name changed again to Woolwich Arsenal

What is the identity of Arsenal FC? What needs to be done to get back to league-winning glory?

By identity i would presume you meant what does the club expect to achieve on a regular basis?, I think a team that is capable of winning a domestic trophy, get to the Ko rounds of major European competitions, and finishing the league in a top 4 place, I don't thiink they are a team that will pull out all the stops, even make a loss, in order to try and be one of the best teams in the world, for one thing top class players are now costing a lot of money, so much money that certain owners can no longer support transfer demands, such as Mike Walker at Newcastle, who has basically put the club up for auction...The EPL has become ultra competitive which isn't that great a surprise when you consider the rewards mow available,. everybody wants a piece of this pie, and unless your willing to spend so much that you are actully taking risks with the future or have so much financial backing that the risk isn't that great..then you have to get with reality and recognise it will be an uphill struggle where even what used to be gimme games are generally going to have to fight hard to try and win.....The last thing a former huge club wants to do is put all it's eggs in one basket take an almighty reisk and then End up like what happened to Leeds, only prob worse given the inflation in transfer fees brought on by the Neymar deal. It could be that soon any team who really wants to have a realistic chance of winning the EPL will need to have very very deep pockets, yes hard work and ethic is really important but w/o that vital ingrediant "talent" it is only ever going to take you so far and increasingly so imho.

Teams have always been accused of buying the league, whatever that is supposed to make them think, and this is still true Today only on a far higher level, with bigger rewards and bigger pitfalls....any team looking to take on the EPL unless money is no object needs to be carefull of what it risks and that the rewards merit those risks, because it is getting easier to fall backwards if a gamble fails and even harder to come back (Leeds Forest Blackburn) regardless of who you are should disaster really strike, like Everton's fans have almost finding out this season...of course if everyone is pulling in the same direction and all have an unquechable thirst to win and believe in themselves then this problem can be negated to various degrees,if this mentality is strong enough then the miracle that was Leicester City is possible...So in conclusion the best way for any team to really raise the chances of success is by having deep deep pockets in the future i think this will mean clubs being owned by megacoporations and conglomerates, the days of the wealthy rich man, are fading fast.. fire Wenger?, i don't think that is the issue, imho Management is over-rated parse, although obviously it does have some role and some influence on what goes during a match...

Arsenal has once again started the season unprepared, and are repeating the same mistakes again. They play youngsters in pre-season which means the main players are not fit to start the season. We’ve still not figured our best team to field yet.

the transfer business has been mediocore, we bought early and well, but have now stood still. The excuse is that the squad is too big, yet we didn’t have any established centre-backs available for the first ten games.

but what troubles me most is that Arsenal players lack motivation, and it makes me cringe watching them play side-to-side possession football with no real urgency. It’s so slow and lackluster, and the players don’t seem to be pushing themselves.

as one of the biggest clubs in England, Arsenal now has an unstable form in the Premier League and being too incosistent in every match,

the whole Arsenal are in a very big crisis and have no ambition to winning the league and the major problem is in Arsene, Wenger has been in the club since twenty one fvcking years ago and he's still building the team, Wenger prof economical chemistry and down to players inharited from top to toe. not thinking about winning but surviving from top 4th will be an issue.the only thing that went wrong was last year Wenger's contact extension, he needs to step down as soon as possible and let the new young coach to manage our team and Arsene Wenger is becoming too arrogant for his own good, he's just doing what he wants and keeping everybody in the dark, in fact that probably our two best players that we’ve spent a considerable amount of money on maybe on their way out of the club, the fact that our fanbase is divided by our manager makes the current atmosphere at the club very difficult, and brings out the undeniable truth that there’s a need for managerial and structural change in our club, Added to that, my club has not been seriously competing for 13 years for league titles and that we’ve been failing on the european stage for years makes it even worse Wenger has spent 150m last 2 seasons and made us worse than ever.

Lacazette and Kolasinac both are excellent signings, and we need more expensive players like Draxler, Gameiro, Fabio Coentrao and Fekir to replace half of Arsenal players, Lacazette is a much better striker with great quality but he hasn't start regularly yet, Giroud is a lethal striker in the air but he has no strength on his feet. He also does not have enough skill to keep the ball down to himself when there's no one to play with upfront, Walcott is the most useless player ever, he should leave the team for his own good after 12 years in the club, also sell Iwobi and Coquelin, they all hype from Arsenal academy and Bellerin has a potential but he is at his maximum level and can't show his quick sprint anymore and also Rob Holding is s bit of legend in the eyes of Arsenal fans, his future is shinning bright but he's not world class defender, he needs more time to settle, El Neny is a flop, he has to go at the end of the season, Ramsey currenly in his form, he should forget about his stupid curse, Xhaka is a silky smooth passer of the ball and his distribution is simply superb as is his overall game, Cech is not getting any younger, so sooner or later we need the new goalkeeper ( Not Ospina or Martinez, Macey would be good option), All our center backs (Mustafi, Koscielny) are decent but Nacho looks so desperate due to his age , Kolasinac is a great, he is the best signing so far, there was a moment during Arsenal’s first Premier League game of the season when Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez picked up the ball, His path towards the Arsenal goal was blocked by him.

Our two major players (Sanchez and Ozil) will leave in January (to be continued)

Arsenal seem to be losing almost everything that made them great and respected. Wenger still insists on playing an attractive style of football but not to great effect. True they have remained one of the best teams in the English Premier League but are nothing close to Wenger's title winning teams or even those of ten years or so ago who were not successful in terms of winning trophies but were guaranteed finish top 4 and would do well in Europe. One place Arsenal have gone wrong in is signings. Walcott and Ramsey for example were both signed with the hope they'd become amazing players. They've done decently for Arsenal but haven't lived up to their expectations. Wilshire another who came through the youth system. Injuries obviously had their effects on players like Jack and Theo but possibly the pressure of reaching those expected successes combined with loads of money made these players fall shorter than what they could have been. Gone are the days Arsenal would find a superstar for a bargain such as Kolo Toure. Modern football is all about signing ready made stars really if you're a top club, however Wenger does still appear to believe in the scouting system and signing cheaper players. But he too has been pressured by other clubs, the media, fans, to spend to catch big spending teams like the two Manchester's and Chelsea. Arsenal need the character of the past when they had guys like Vieira and Keown for example. They have no one like that now. They need to be smarter in the transfer market, it doesn't look as if Wenger will spend money for the sake of it but is accepting of the fact he might have to over spend to get a target like Monaco's Lamar as well as keeping his own faith in the way he has signed players in the past. A manager change would probably help but might totally go against what Wenger has established. A manager like Mancini or Simeone would probably bring success but not the best football. What they'd also bring to the club, particularly Simeone, is that character has been missing from Arsenal for over a decade. How I would line up the team now under Wenger would be a 4-2-3-1 formation. Two ball winners in midfield who can also pass, the 3 made up of Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette with Giroud as the striker. I don't think Arsenal currently have the players for my idea of defensive mids and it's looking more likely that Sanchez and Ozil will be leaving. What we might find is that this big money trend could well change the identify of Arsenal FC with a new manager and new signings coming in to play a new style, but a style effective in the modern game.

Now who should they sign to replace Ozil and Sanchez? And to play defensive mid? Ndidi of Leicester seems like someone Wenger would gamble on but then he'd fail to impress. For Sanchez somebody like Di Maria, Lucas, Griezmann or Dybala. Di Maria and Lucas could both leave PSG and might have a similar impact at Arsenal? Griezmann would only happen if Simeone joined am Dybala would probably only join for a top manager of the modern game. He is definitely the least likely to sign but would possibly be most effective. Fabinho of Monaco could play defensive mid he also likes to gey forward so his partner in crime could be that bit more defensive minded and cover for Fabinho. Honestly not really sure who could come in to play the other role. See the players I'm suggesting are kind of players Arsenal would sign to keep them doing well, but not challenging for titles. A replacement for Ozil? Good luck! No reason Iwobi can't be stuck in where he is but ideally you'd want someone like Ozil to play the Ozil role. At the very least sign Mahrez. Arsenal do need new centre backs too but almost every team does! You dont find CB's like you did in the good old days. Butland would be a good replacement in goal for Cech I would think. Many reckon he's the best English goalkeeper right now. I haven't offered much of a solution in terms of who they should sign admittedly, the realistic targets of those I listed aren't the most fascinating but the set up of a team along with their attitude are two things that could drastically change Arsenal for the better. A 4-2-3-1 gives Wenger plenty options. The presence of Giroud there would give them a long ball plan B option. Not what Arsenal fans want but it can be effective.

What is the identity of Arsenal FC? What needs to be done to get back to league-winning glory?

The 2003-04 season was one of the very first Premier League seasons that I watched. I was a small kid and I remember thinking to myself, 'boy, Arsenal is one amazing team!' They were the Invincibles. Arsenal will probably always be one of the teams from the Premier League to 'watch out' for. Their play doesn't excite me anymore and they seem to lack any purpose, but, they'll always be one of the better teams in the league.

Nobody seems to have the zeal in them. Ozil and Xhaka barely even made contact with the ball a couple of weeks ago against City and Coquelin as CB was weird(he did a pretty decent job though)

Nobody seems to have that spark in them. They need to keep Sanchez(I know, his move to City is almost certain), but, more importantly, they need to find someone who would ignite the spark in them. They have the talent to challenge for the title. Do they have more depth and talent than City? Probably not, but, they certainly should be doing better than they are right now.

They should sack Wenger and get a manager who would motivate the players enough to start performing well. A couple of fresh new youngsters would help too.

Bonus answer:

Arsenal FC's current status is in something of a flux due to their current ageing manager, Arsene Wenger's latter years failing to reach his previously high standards of the previous 20 years, and also due to the club moving stadiums. Arsenal's previous home was Highbury with a capacity of less than 40,000. This restriction on income forced the club to build a new Stadium nearby and they named it The Emirates Stadium, after the sponsors. The name isn't popular with traditional fans who refer to the stadium as either The Grove or Ashburton Grove. Arsenal's tenure at The Emirates, opened for the start of the 2006–07 season has been relatively unsuccessful when compared to the glory years at Highbury. Indeed the club seem to be just in the business of selling tickets and renting-out hospitality boxes and not in providing the quality of football that gave the club a huge brand name. Arsenal are the second richest club in England but their transfer budget is puny compared to Man City, Liverpool and Man Utd. The fans are sick of hearing about how much money the directors are taking from the club but because Arsenal are marketed around the world as an attraction to visit when in the UK, the genuine supporters voices are unheard and ignored. The remedy is simply to find a younger coach with an attacking style and give him a big transfer kitty.

What is the identity of Arsenal FC? What needs to be done to get back to league-winning glory?

Arsenal's identity is really that of a footballing institution. Arsenal football club have an illustrious history in English football, they have won many trophies and they are one of the most supported teams in England. But in recent years, major success has eluded them. I will clarify what I deem to be Arsenal's problems and I will try to point out what is holding them back from winning more major trophies.

Arsenal need to start showing more ambition with their signings. Fair enough, they signed Ozil and Sanchez for huge transfer fees a few years ago and they were/are two of the best players in the world. But more often than not they sign players who either have potential at a bargain price or players who are good, but not top grade. When they do make a big signing, it is usually one big signing per season, no more. Look at Man City or Chelsea, they are not afraid to splash the cash on several top players to win silverware, that is not Arsenal. Their youth system is not the best either, I mean it can't be compared to Spurs's youth system for example.

I fear that so long as Wenger is in charge, this usual trend will continue where Arsenal's only realistic hope is finishing in the top 4 or winning one of the domestic cups. The Premier League title and the Champions League title is way beyond them and they have no chance in those competitions if the current trend keeps continuing.

The main problem with Arsenal is their lack of depth in key positions. Also they lack a leader in midfield I believe, which is a key area.

Their goalkeepers Cech and Ospina are both very good goalkeepers, maybe not the best, but top goalkeepers none the less, so there aren't that many problems in that position. In central defense, they have Koscielny and Mustafi, two very good defenders and both are among the best central defenders in the EPL. But the cover for this position is quite poor, Mertesacker is past it and his slow pace will always get exposed against big teams. Chambers and Holding are good but again they are not top class defenders, they are both young and still have a lot to prove. Monreal I do not rate, he makes too many mistakes for my liking in central defence and when he plays fullback he is nothing special. The first choice fullbacks Bellerin and Kolasinac are both very good fullbacks, but again, there is poor depth for this position when either of these 2 gets injured. The players who cover for them are not half as good as them in these positions.

In central midfield Arsenal have Ramsey, Xhaka, Elneny, Wilshire, Carzola and Coquelin(don't rate him much). Ramsey and Xhaka are probably the best of that lot, they are good midfielders but again not world class or anything like that. They are not a Kante for example. So they are decent for Arsenal without being outstanding and I can't name a real leader among them personality wise. Then there is Ozil in attacking midfield of course. He blows hot and cold, he can be world class in one game and then invisible the next. Although his world class talent is not in dispute, his lack of consistency affects Arsenal negatively, because of his big role in the team.

In offense, Sanchez is the key player, but alongside him Lacazette and Giroud are also class players. Those 3 form a very lethal front line. They are all proven forwards who offer a real threat to any opposition. Other forwards like Walcott, Welbeck and Iwobi are decent forwards but nothing near the level of Sanchez, Lacazette and Giroud.

To conclude, I think the main problem with Arsenal lies in their lack of depth. Certainly in central defence they need better cover for Koscielny and Mustafi. The same applies to the fullback/wing back positions, the cover for Bellerin and Kolasinac is not good enough, when either is injured Arsenal are severely weakened. But the biggest problem lies in midfield. There Arsenal have plenty of decent midfielders, but none that is world class or has great leadership qualities. Moreover, their attacking midfielder Ozil is too inconsistent. It is fine margins like this that make a huge difference in the course of a long EPL season. There can't be too many complaints of an arguable world class attack of Sanchez, Giroud and Lacazetter really, but central midfield is a problem for the reasons I have stated.

The answer? Sell Ozil once and for all now, while Arsenal can still get a big transfer fee for him. Replace him with a top class attacking midfielder who is more consistent and who is more of a leader. Then sell some of the plenty of central midfielders that Arsenal have and again buy a top class central midfielder who has leadership qualities. One world class midfielder in that position should be enough to make a huge difference for Arsenal. Then Arsenal should buy new players as reliable cover for the wing back positions and central defense. These changes would drastically improve Arsenal's chances of winning the EPL title again. In order for these changes to happen though, I fear Wenger needs to get the sack. He has demonstrated that he is not willing to make such drastic changes in a short space of time. Arsenal need a new manager who will put his head on the line and pay the money to make the necessary changes that are required. Only then will this Arsenal team start to win the EPL once again or at the very least, seriously challenge for the title.

Arsenal are capable of playing some football that is easy on the eye and have a great history. They won the Premier League without losing a single game.

Wenger is Arsenal's most successful manager but he needs to go and should have left when Arsenal won the FA Cup last season. I feel he is holding the current team back from its potential. Some of his starting XI decisions are also baffling and the biggest example of that is starting Welbeck over Lacazette. Maybe Massimiliano Allegri should be the next Arsenal manager. I think he will be able to sell the dead wood such as Wilshere and bring in some better players and then lead them to winning the Premier League. Players such as Paulo Dybala and Thomas Lemar would be good players to add to Arsenal's squad. Leon Goretzka could be a good player for them as well.

I think Wenger will end up leaving on a low if he keeps on renewing his contract at Arsenal.
