Question:
You are the ref! What would you do in this situation?

A (football) player on a yellow card commits a foul worthy of another yellow card. The referee allows play to continue to allow for an advantage (with the intention of second booking the cautioned player at a convenient break in the play). The advantage elapses over a lengthy period of time but the ball does not go out of play nor is play stopped for any other reason. As play continues, the ball goes down the other end and the cautioned player actually scores. What do you do?

i would $hit my pants that's what i would do lol

but anyways i have not given the card yet so technically the goal is legal because the player is not sent off yet and also it if happens very quickly with absolutely no tackles or anything worthy of me blowing my whistle well then i would send him off after he scored and explain my decision to the both teams.

that

1. i gave team B the advantage with intention to book

2. in a freak turn of events they lost the ball and team A scored

3. i know decide to give the card out

now bare in mind for this to happen the ball would have to be lost and it would have to be very quick but most often the player could stay down and the whistle blown so there are many things that can happen but should it play out correctly i would have no choice but to allow the goal and book the player

OR!!!

i could give team B the advantage and when the ball is lost i could blow the whistle but this is highly unlikely to happen it's a very confusing thing.

Ah the play goes down the other end you say? Well if the advantage play for the team that was fouled ends up in nothing (i.e. they lose the ball), then it is time to stop play and award the 2nd yellow card.

the rules are you would allow the goal then book the player for the earlier foul if you choose to play advantage these things can happen

Well,I have already given advantage,so I have no choice but to give the goal.Curse myself silently for not stopping play, and book him a 2nd time for excessive celebration,or book him for any foul he commits later on.Most likely I would send him off for excessive celebrations.

I would count the goal. Tough luck for the other team. If i thought it was so bad, i would've stopped play and booked him. I might tell him to watch out with his aggresiveness, but that's it.

i would let the goal stand but after the celebrations i would send him off

his celebration could deserve a yellow card anyway

Nonsense, u cant wait for a break to give a card, once a card is given that is a break, because a free kick has to be taken. if the card was not given at the time, he can't give him minutes later!

ummmm tough one....i guess in reality if you let it get to that situation you would have to swallow your pride and give the goal.....
