Why are EPL fans insulting Xavi with comparisons to Gerrard, Lampard, Cesc, C.Ronalda etc?

I have been watching La Liga, EPL and Serie A b4 Xavi was a regular at Barcelona. Xavi has been playing this same style and with the same composure, and passing range for the last 5 years at least. Why is he only now being seen as a candidate for the best player tag? The answer is the teams he know plays with Barca and Spain, are now better. His quality has increased dramatically, he is just more winning as a result of playing in a better team with better teamates. I don't doubt his quality, I don't think he can give to Liverpool what Gerrard and Lampard give to their respective teams. Similarly I don't think Gerrard could give Barca what he does. Lampard may be a better fit at that. I would call Fabregas in this because his level is not on par with either three at the moment



That being said, to outright say he is better than Lampard or Gerrard is a bit of a stretch and to say he is better than CR9 is ludicrous.



Trophies are an indicator of a talented footballer, but don't use it as your base for example: Djimi Traore has one a CL, can he be considered a great footballer ? Obviously not. Clarence Seedorf has won a CL Trophy everywhere he went, can we put down his teams success directly to him?



By your trophy= greatness theory, I can easily say that Raul has been the best striker, Seedorf has been the best midfieder, and Fernando Hierro has been the best defender over the past fifteen years, as they all have won three CL trophies.

Oh for god's sake! You are just so bias towards the Spanish leagues. The Premier League IS the best league in the world and nobody could come up with a decent argument why it isn't. Gerrard and Lampard are both just as good as Xavi. And the majority of players from any foreign league who come into the Premier League usually struggle with the physicality and pace of the Premier League for their first season.

And also, English teams usually dominate the Champions League and UEFA are obviously not happy about that. Clearly shown in the fixed game between Chelsea and Barcelona. And DON'T say that it wasn't fixed. Three blatant penalties that you can't deny no matter how bias you may be.

I guarantee you that if Xavi was in the Premier League and came up against a player like, say, Scott Parker or Javier Mascherano, he would be taken completely out of the game because he wouldn't be able to cope against the hard tackles that these two players put in.

A player like Didier Drogba would usually destroy any Spanish teams defence because he is so quick and strong and a real trouble to deal with. Other examples of that sort of player are Carlton Cole and John Carew.

But anyway Xavi is not the best player in the world, because if he came to the Premier League-the best league in the world-he would struggle against the physicality, the pace and the quality of football.

Xavi is pretty good, I admit. But I think it's pretty easy to make nice passes when you have Ibrahimovic or Henry as forwards. But you can see who is the best player when your team success depends on your individual performances. If you trade Xavi for a guy like Steven Gerrard, you'll see that the british is a bit over.
