Question:
Will Arsenal be the only club?
2009-07-15 06:12:53 UTC
that will still be competitive from the original Top 4 in seasons to come? as i see it utd, chelsea an liverpool are on borrowed time through bad money management, their quest for short term glory hasn't exactly paid off because these clubs infrastructure was purely based on Money buys success, the world has changed and you need Smart people to run big business's,and it's proven that the people who run these clubs are Not that clever whereas the Board of Arsenal has been very careful with their money and has a long term strategy in place for Total domination of football, even with the 6+5 rule comes into place Arsenal has the players to compete, this transfer window i believe chelsea, utd and liverpool Can't offer or compete for world class players anymore nor is their youth policy looking any good either,so i think at least 1 of these clubs will dropout of the 4 this season and the next season will see the other 2,which will leave the Arsenal left of the original 4

No, Arsenal have a way to go to actually prove they are still one of the top 4, and not merely hanging on by their shirt tails.

Jo you know what I find really really funny is this is exactly what they where saying about Liverpool last year and their memories must be very short as we were on top of the league for most of the season before until the injury problems hit us.

"Arsenal have a long way to go before they can prove they are still part of the top 4"..... what a joke, and they dare call us delusional?

The rest of them look to be plagued with financial problems in the future and if any of them go the way of Valencia in the near future I will not be surprised at all. Fergie has sold Ronaldo and still can't buy a worthy replacement, now he is the one buying underaged African kids.

Arsenal need to worry about the short term future. With the emergence of the quality of upper mid table teams, Arsenal could find themselves in another battle for fourth spot. Man City, Spurs, Everton and Villa are all capable of finishing in the top 4 next year and it will most likely be at the expense of Arsenal who have the weakest team out of the big four.

Failure to finish fourth for Arsenal could spell disaster given the fact that a large chunk of profits are being used to pay off the Emirates debt.

at this moment in time football is all about money and out of the top 6 teams Arsenal are the most financially sound team because they are not spending what they haven't got and if Manchester City and Chelsea do not win trophies their owners may leave at any point leaving them in a mess

that 'need i say anymore' guy is well and truly right. When fergie goes, everything is going to fall apart as no manager could ever top him. Chelsea cannot buy their way into games anymore as proved by Terry wanting either to get paid same amount as Man City were gona pay em or leave. And Liverpool, well... what can i say. Rafa is hanging on by a thread. Once he goes, so will all them spanish players as he built them for his kind of tactics and gameplay. So Arsenal have a very very bright future ahead.

David Dein became vice chairman of Arsenal soccer club, and has owned shares in them for the reason that 1983. i think of all Arsenal followers would be unhappy to be sure him flow as he has been so unswerving by way of the years, and became the only that extra in Arsene Wenger. i think of David Dein incredibly enjoyed the club and we are able to quickly be serious proper to tips from the yank millionaire Stan Kroenke, proprietor of a number of activities communities in usa (NHL, NBA and NSL). i want to choose Mr Dein the wonderful of luck for the destiny and thank him for each thing he has achieved for Arsenal.

You know what this is a ******* good point.

Arsenal are the only team that are operating in a proper board system, something similar to the top Spanish team. The other top four teams are have signed them selves to individual owners who only have the $ sign in their eyes.

Arsenal can cope with coming 4th and maybe winning a small cup in the next 3 years. We all know about their youth system and its ability to bring up young people, they will be fine.

All in all lets hope Liverpool throw those cow boys out and get some real owners in.

i fully understand your reason's,utd though has a good youth policy but when fergie retires which can be any day now they will fall back to the old days when they got relegated, chelsea are not that rich anymore nor can they pretend to be a top club an ageing team that is in decline hence why terry wants to leave, liverpool can't expand their stadium so that will be a stumbling block for them,so all those fruitless seasons will be forgotten when no1 can touch us for centuries....

People who are saying Arsenal are going to suffer under the 6+5 rule need to have another look at our squad because the time that rule comes through our young English players will be good enough...

Don't be too over-confident. Don't forget the 6+5 rule. Arsenal need experienced players. They need to mature and grow up. Wenger needs to buy players who have played in big clubs. You can't just rule out the other teams. I don't mean to offend Arsenal or their fans, but you do have to realize you're in ENGLAND not in France. Quit with the french. Arsenal are the closest to get out of the Top 4 and give their place to another team.

United's youth system of old means we don't need to buy hundreds of players to keep us in tact. How can you even think of saying United's youth policy is rubbish? Have you seen what our youth old & new could & can do? We even have ENGLISH players in our youth ;).

And Man United SHORT term glory? Yeah judging by the daily cleaned trophy cabinet, I beg to differ.

Manchester United are probably the only team in the Top 4 who actually have more than 6 English players to compete for the 6+5 rule.

By the way, the overrated price tag on someone does not make the player, I recall Ronaldo came to United for 12 million & no one knew him. Look what became of him.

And you do realise United have about 60 million quid left over from the transfer market, we even got a player for free. Now THAT is being clever.

I rest my long case.

Hi, You have a very good point but don't rule out Chelsea, United or Liverpool because those three teams still have good squads to win throphys and winning throphys gets you money.

typical disillusioned arsenal fan ,if any of the top three didn't win a trophy do you expect them to be the manager next season,of course not.take a closer look at arsenal what have they won recently(excluding arsenal women) a big fat zero, how many arsenal fans want to win the league,fa cup, carling cup, champions league(this is a no hoper)very sorry cant see arsenal winning any thing this as well, you might finish fifth or sixth so dont get your hopes up yet again

In what way were Arsenal competitive last season? They finished 4th, well off the pace, and for some part of the season were in 5th behind Villa.

Arsenal haven't been spending big for some years now (as their lack of trophies shows), so I don't see why they should necessarily overtake the other 3 in the upcoming season.

Chelsea are fine. Liverpool are teetering and Man U have been doomed ever since the Glazers.

I don't think we'll see the effect for another few seasons though

We'll be behind till then :(

well if arsenal can even stay in the top 4 next season, they hav been the weakest by far for several seasons. I reckon they will inevitably replaced this year by villa or everton

also, arsenal would be the worst team wen it comes to 6+5 with theo walcott as the only englishman who starts reguarly. if anything, I see arsenal as the one club that will be mid-table in seasons to come
