Do you think it is right to support MAN U when you have no connection to Manchester and live in Cornwall or the south west. I f you live in the south west you should choose a club in london or portsmouth.

London team for those in the South West? Dude, you might want to look at a map...
What about if you've moved house? Do you have to change club every time? I've lived in the North West, the midlands and the South East previously... I'm now in West Yorks - do I have to support Leeds now? I can't see that going down too well with the folks back home, you see.
Isn't the Man Utd fans all live in London joke getting a bit dog eared now? Besides, there's a fair few Chelsea and Arsenal shirts showing up in some pretty northern climes and I seem to remember a sudden spate of scouse a couple of years ago - coincided with Liverpool winning the Champions League, I believe...

I have often pondered the same question and it is a good one. I feel more inclined to support a Midlands team like Aston Villa since I am from just outside Birmingham where Villa supporters traditionally are from and Birmingham City supporters live in the city. I do not feel inlined to support a london team like chelsea or a northern one such as manchester - I have always been loyal to my team and the connections of where I grew up in Birmingham - in West Heath Birmingham

Supporting or choosing any team to be fan of should not be solely done on a geographical location basis. It should be rationalized to your own judgement and your prediction of whose's best....but of course if you want to be parochial about things, then by all means choose a club in london or portsmouth!....or unless you have a very good friend or relative in a certain team and want to show loyalty, then do go ahead too. Most football fans I am sure will choose to be fans of a club they have a passion for! Adult football is unlike when we were schoolboys and want to only ROOT for our school and no one else...irrespective!!

You support who YOU yourself wish to support, not who people like you say.

when i was a young lad i had no idea where manchester was let alone portsmouth it was suggested that i support united or get my head punched in i made the right choice UNITED are the best team in the world but the people of manchester have their CITY team
LAVELLE! :]

so we should only support teams we live the nearest to?
not all fans from man utd come from manchester, in case you haven't noticed. man utd has the largest fan base AROUND THE WORLD.
you cant blame people for LIKING the way man utd play.
while some of them MAY be glory supporters, it's not fair to say that ALL of them are. some of them really DO support man utd. if all man utd fans besides those who live in manchester are glory supporters, man utd matches would have practically nobody watching them, due to their horrible start to the season.
mr. zuhdi or watever guy is talking crap. did chelsea have as much supporters as they do now before roman abramovich came along? NO. PRACTICALLY ALL CHELSEA FANS ARE GLORY SUPPORTERS.

I don`t care if people from the South support Man U but frankly, i think it is a bit of a myth, i don`t think there are that many.
Edit: Mr Zuhdi, Frankly it is difficult to understand your English but the last time i heard such crap was Tony Blair telling us why we needed to go to war in Iraq!
Man U fans love their team with a passion and they all know why they support Man U. We certainly don`t need to justify ourselves to someone like you, who clearly is stating a hypocritical argument as you are not even English and you are hailing Chelsea!?! What a f*****g liberty!

So supporters here in Australia, or Asia or the US should not be allowed to support United or any team in the EPL by your logic. Its not always about where you live but the passion the club instills in you that gets ones support and loyalty. I arise faithfully anywhere between 2 and 4am to watch Man Utd play week in and week out. I keep up to date with signings and youth teams. I could not love and admire them more even if I did live in the middle of Manchester. They have my loyalty, always have had and always will.

A glory supporter only sings when theyre winning so to speak. Football is genetic. I live nearer to Preston and Wigan than to Manchester, but my dad supported them. Plus we are a democracy, and football is about the only thing the bloody govt havent interfered with yet lol

And what if I live 5000 miles away from England and there's no local football club?
I'll be as loyal as any Man Utd fan and I'll always support Utd no matter what. So,whats wrong with that?

you freaking stupid to think like that.
i live in Singapore...but doesn't stop me from supporting man utd.
i still get to watch ALL their matches.
the best part is: you have to sometimes wake up 3:45 am just to watch a match because of the time difference.
Many people here deprive their sleep to watch their team play. This is passion. It lives on even if you are far away.

why do i sense discrimination here?
does it mean only people in the uk can support teams playing in the epl?
what does this leave for people staying outside of uk?
i believe everyone should have his/her own rights to choose who they wanna support..

My personal favourite on this is when they go "yeah my dad supported man utd"....look mate, that just makes your whole family glory supporting ponces. You were all born and bred just outside of Birmingham and you've never even been to old trafford. I also noticed he starting to increase his football watching and enthusiasm for the game again last season....prick.
I've just read that persons post above. HOW exactly can you condone supporting a football team from another country? You're not a real fan, you're just susceptible to marketing campaigns and are basically the cause of why our game is turning into a business orientated joke. I attribute our over-payed, under-performing "stars" to people like you. Go to your local football ground and get behind your team.

HAHA..(one of the real man u fan question) manu and manu fan are so dumb coz they didn't know why they support the team..are it just coz they follow others and support mu and the others follow the others until only one man who really support MU coz his heart want to..not like chelsea who the fan support of bcoz love the club and so do the player there..
