Question:
Should Liverpool sack Benitez and get a new manager in for the new year?

I know we have to pay him £20 Million or so to sack him, but how much are we going to lose in future earnings by missing out on the Champions League this year? If Benitez is still in charge throughout the remainder of the season then that is exactly what is going to happen. We need a new manager to reinvigorate the players.

Today's defeat at the hands of bottom-of-the-league Portsmouth was the final nail in the coffin for Benitez as far as I'm concerned. I haven't been a big fan of Benitez for a good few year's now but just got behind him for the sake of the team. Even though he won us the champions league in 2005, that was in 2005, we are nearly in 2010, and any honest Liverpool fan will tell you we were really lucky to win it. I think a manager needs to be judged on current success not past glory. The champions league success is the sole reason our fans have been so obsessed with Benitez.

Benitez has puzzled many over the years with his 'rotation policy' and his mediocre signings (nunez, babel, kuyt, lucas, aurelio, to name but a few). I used to think the man was some kind of genius but is he ****. Unless this man is ousted soon, Liverpool FC may become the new Leeds FC.

'Benitez has the players, he just doesn't know how to get the best out of them. Benitez doesn't have the players, the squad is as poor as it has ever been in the last 5 years. He has some good players, the spine of the team (Reina, Carra, Gerrard & Torres)...but the rest just can't cut it week in week out at this level. I fail to see how losing more games this season already compared to last seasons suggests he has good enough players - performances have been shocking & there is no consistency.

'For example Voronin was pretty good on loan in Germany ' Theres a reason for this, England is alot tougher league than the German one. Sure, he can cut it in Germany but not here against some of the best teams in the world. He has had the chances to prove himself here, but he just hasn't taken the chances. His a flop just like Lucas, Dossena & Babel. Thats too many with the amount of money hes had and spent on players, imo.

I wouldn't like to see him sacked though, unless Harry Redknapp could come in and replace him.

I think Benitez should go. I think when you lose to Portsmouth, and not even show up, it's time for the manager to get the sack. It's really unfortunate because he brought them a Champions League title, nearly won the Premier League this season, and has always been one of the best managers in the world, despite his ''rotation policy''. The level of talent, combined with injuries, has done Liverpool in this season, and while that isn't totally his fault, someone has to take the hit. At this point in the season, you know what you have, and it's your job to go out there and make the best with what you have. He obviously has not been able to do that.

Benitez has the players, he just doesn't know how to get the best out of them. For example Voronin was pretty good on loan in Germany and slumped back to obscurity when went back to 'pool. Even with Gerrard and Torres back they're limping. It's only a matter of time for Rafa but Mark Hughes looks like he'll be a casualty first.

No i feel he deserves until the end of the season, the problem with Benitez is his defensive approach to the game and players selection, spending all that money on a player just for him to get splinter in his a*****
